Cambridgeshire County Council consists of 61 councillors, representing 59 electoral divisions. The council is based at New Shire Hall in Alconbury Weald, near Huntingdon. It is part of the East of England Local Government Association and a constituent member of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. It is responsible for waste disposal, (not collection) and has a PFI contract with Thalia, (was Amey) until 2036. There is a waste management park at Waterbeach which consists of an MBT, IVC and MRF as well as a landfill site. The Council are also responsible for the 9 Household Recycling Centres across the county. It is also a member of the RECAP Partnership which consists of 5 district councils, (Cambridge City, South Cambridgeshire, East Cambridgeshire, Fenland and Huntingdonshire) as well as Peterborough City Council.
