RECOUP Members Visit Amcor Circular Polymers
This week Amcor kindly hosted a RECOUP member visit to the Amcor Circular Polymers site in Leamington Spa. The site (originally known as Berry Circular Polymers) is home to the CleanStream contact-sensitive mechanical recycling process, where they use GAINnext technology from TOMRA to sort food grade polypropylene packaging for recycling back into contact-sensitive applications.
The tour was hosted by Jamie and Mark who guided members through the process from the intake hall, right through to final testing in the on-site lab. The lab includes all the usual tensile and melt flow testing equipment, as well as more specialised apparatus to ensure that the recycled materials are suitable for contact-sensitive packaging.
The tour was very informative and recommended for any members who have an interest in increasing their use of contact-sensitive recycled PP for their packaging applications. It may also be of interest to some of our reuse members for the sourcing and recycling of materials.
Thank you to Jamie and Mark for hosting us and putting on lunch, as Jamie said it really was ‘Top Nosh’.
