Scottish Government Release Draft Environment Strategy

The Scottish Government is inviting stakeholders to give feedback on the Scottish Draft Environment Strategy, and its impact assessments, to help shape the final version.

The Strategy aims to guide Scotland’s response to the global crises of nature loss, climate change, and pollution.

Built on existing policies, it introduces new priorities to manage synergies and trade-offs between environmental goals, focusing on the following areas:

  • Supporting green jobs and industries
  • Improving public health
  • Tackling poverty
  • Promoting social justice

The Scottish government sees this as a step closer to their overall vision: “One Earth. One home. One shared future.” By 2045, Scotland aims to:

  • Restore nature
  • End its contribution to climate change
  • Tackle pollution
  • Ensure Scotland’s global environmental impact is sustainable
