Global Treaty to End Plastic Pollution – Second Part of the Fifth Session ( inc-5.2)

The second part of the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (INC-5.2), started on 5 August and will continue to 14 August 2025 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Governments, businesses, and other key stakeholders are joining their efforts to develop a global plastic treaty to end plastic pollution, a process that has proven challenging in the first part of the negotiations.

The Global Plastic Treaty has the potential to become a powerful policy tool to promote a circular economy for plastics and dramatically reduce plastic pollution.
