Wastebuster is launching new initiatives which seek to further improve plastics and wider material circularity through global multi-stakeholder collaborations, including:
Recycle to Read uses plastic toy recycling as an engaging topic for children, families, and schools. Toy reuse and recycling helps explore the circular economy whilst delivering environmental and STEM education. Recycle to Read represents a voluntary EPR scheme for plastic toys, with collections rolling out to larger UK supermarkets in 2024. It also features a collaborative research stream supporting design and manufacture for circularity across the toy value chain.
Water Week is a new annual international school and community facing campaign being developed in collaboration with the UNEP and multiple international stakeholders, prompting the sustainable management of plastics and other actions in support of UN SDG 14 and linked SDG from 2024.
