EPRO - European Association of Plastics Recycling and Recovery Organisations

About EPRO

EPRO is a pan-European partnership of specialist organisations that are working to develop and deliver efficient solutions for the sustainable management of plastics resources, now and for the future.

EPRO members are represented from across 19 European countries, with new members joining from South Africa, New Zealand and Canada. RECOUP is a member, representing the UK.

EPRO Aims

  • To exchange and publish information and experiences.
  • To develop improved strategies for prevention, recycling and recovery of plastics packaging waste with regard to the EU thematic strategy on waste and recycling.
  • To support technological projects designed to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of plastics recycling and recovery throughout Europe.
  • To evaluate new technologies and to stimulate improved quality and value of used plastics on a scientific basis.

RECOUP and EPRO

It’s vital to understand the European view on plastics recycling. Every organisation involved in the plastic supply chain needs to be aware of what takes place across Europe as systems and areas of strength are different for every country.

To ensure the outputs are beneficial to RECOUP members and the wider UK plastic packaging recycling community we work within a number of working groups including best practice, bottles, mixed plastic and energy from waste.

RECOUP provide support to the EPRO Best Recycled Plastic Product Award. These awards demonstrate organisations commitment and work in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, and for the consumer to more fully understand the scope of their environmentally friendly actions.  The awards raise awareness and showcase the latest product innovations for recycled plastics in a growing variety of products and items.
