Welsh Cabinet Makes Statement on Workplace Recycling Regulations

On 7 November, Welsh Minister for Climate Change, Julie James released a cabinet statement announcing the laying of subordinate legislation required to implement the Workplace Recycling reforms due to come into force in 2024.

The three Statutory Instruments (SIs) which make up the Workplace Recycling reforms are scheduled for plenary debate on 28 November, and, subject to the approval of the Senedd, will come into force on 6 April 2024. These are:

1. The Waste Separation Requirements (Wales) Regulations 2023
2. The Prohibition on the Incineration, or the Deposit in Landfill, of Specified Waste (Wales) Regulations 2023
3. The Prohibition on Disposal of Food Waste to Sewer (Civil Sanctions) (Wales) Order 2023
