Glyn Staines, RECOUP Board
Glyn Staines is a RECOUP Board Advisor and has spent 40 years in packaging product innovation and development for several major packaging producers (Metal Box, RPC Containers, MWV, Solocup/Dart), having held positions within businesses responsible for championing environmental considerations through material selection and design.  A Director and Trustee on several occasions since mid-1990's recognising RECOUP's unique ability to represent complete material chain for plastics.

Dr. Adam Read, External Affairs Director, SUEZ Recycling & Recovery UK
Dr. Adam Read has been External Affairs Director at SUEZ Recycling & Recovery UK for almost 4 years after a successful career in academia, local government and consultancy. For the last 2 months, he has been jointly leading the company’s work with the UK Government through the development of the new Resources & Waste Strategy and associated consultations, acting as lead author on the SUEZ consultation submissions and evidence calls, and as a peer reviewer for the CIWM and ESA in their responses. He has co-hosted 50 plus workshops in the last 18 months working with the value chain to assess the changes needed, the options proposed, and the means of transitioning, supporting the likes of INCPEN, IGD and RECOUP on collaborative action.

Adam sits on numerous industry technical working groups, is a regular speaker and facilitator, a technical report and article author, and a frequent blogger and social media enthusiast. He has been in the sector for almost 25 years specializing in municipal waste management strategy, recycling services, contracts and consultation, and continues to support UK service innovation and delivery, when not influencing Government policy.

He is a Fellow of the CIWM, RSA, and the Royal Geographical Society, and is the CIWM ‘s incoming President, taking up the reigns in June 2021, when his focus will be on skills for a green recovery.

Paul East, Packaging Sustainability Manager, RECOUP
Paul East is a member of the Institute of Packaging and has extensive knowledge of packaging materials and processes as a result of over 20 years of experience dealing with packaging from within the food industry as a Packaging Buyer, Packaging Technologist, and Packaging Innovation Manager.

For RECOUP, Paul has written and compiled many versions of RECOUP’s Recyclability by Design publications and provides assessment and guidance for the recycling of packaging for RECOUP Members and a range of clients

Jo Padwick, Business Transformation Manager, Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I
As Business Transformation Manager at Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I, Jo’s remit is to mitigate the environmental impact of the manufacturer’s soft drinks packaging belonging to some of the nation’s best loves brands, including Lucozade and Ribena.

Jo’s current focus is SBF GB&I’s bottle portfolio, implementing a plan to work towards 100% sustainable bottles by 2030 by promoting circularity. Action underway includes redesigning bottles to promote bottle-to-bottle recycling, updating all pack labelling and working with the company’s marketing team to drive positive consumer behaviour. In addition to this, Jo leads Suntory Beverage and Food Europe’s (SBFE) rPET strategy, sharing learnings across the region as part of the Suntory Group’s global vision of Growing for Good.

Working cross-functionally and collaboratively is in Jo’s eyes, key to driving full circularity. Through exciting new partnerships Jo is leading the development of new delivery methods and materials to drive packaging innovations through Suntory’s GB&I and European businesses.

Jo is passionate about using the power of brands for good and with marketing experience gained working on national brands such as McVitie’s, Wrigley’s and Ribena, Jo’s work arrives at practical solutions through consumer insight and in-depth research.

Kate Bedford, Senior Projects Officer, RECOUP 
Kate Bedford manages RECOUP’s packaging recyclability testing activities including sourcing, logging, storing and testing of packaging. This includes both commercial and laboratory-based, controlled testing.

Kate has provided support and data gathering and analysis activities for a range of RECOUP packaging design and recycling-related projects. She has experience of material composition analysis having worked on the 
Drinks Recycling On-the-Go project which included documenting, analysing and reporting data, and will support material composition analysis activities.
