A note from Stuart Foster, RECOUP CEO

Date Published: Thursday 17th May 2018

As a charity we are funded through membership and project sponsorship. The more support we receive, the more effective we can be, so we are encouraging all stakeholders to help us at this important time.

It is critical to keep up to speed with discussions in different forums as things are moving quickly. Bringing together the knowledge and information for members of RECOUP, and the team itself helps ensure plastic recycling programmes and projects are as effective as possible. Having the constructive and challenging conversations with the right stakeholders is the only way forward.

That said, I am determined to keep the RECOUP delivery programme on track in 2018. This includes various core activities including consumer engagement, packaging recyclability by design, plastic collection reports and various others activities linked to our 2018 programmes of work that will help improve plastics recycling and resource efficiency at a practical level.

Moving recycling forwards can and should be done sensibly by working towards the development of long term sustainable plastic resource management. But it also needs to be done at a pace which satisfies the current political, media and consumer pressure and ultimately protects the environment.

So in summary, more engagement, more members, more work, more interest, and continuing our role at RECOUP to deliver projects that make a real difference, and lead the plastic resource and recycling evolution as the UK’s plastic value chain co-ordinators.
