Finance Officer (part time)

We are seeking an organised and diligent Finance Officer to join our small friendly team based in Peterborough. You will be responsible for managing and checking financial transactions relating to the activities of PPS and RECOUP, preparing financial reports, credit control, assisting with reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of financial principles, and have an excellent working knowledge of quickbooks.

Hours and days are negotiable within normal office working hours, ideally between 20 and 25 hours per week including at least 50% of time office based including Mondays.

Key responsibilities:

  • Invoicing customers and processing payments
  • Credit Control and ensuring timely payments
  • Monitoring and reconciling bank statements
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Preparing weekly, monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Assisting in budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure financial goals are met
  • Supporting the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with all accounting and financial regulations.
  • Represent the organisation from time to time at relevant meetings and events, and manage or support other projects.
  • Support and get involved in other activities and projects where applicable.

Essential criteria:

  • Proven working knowledge and experience of quickbooks
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organise work effectively, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently and use own initiative
  • Experience of IT systems including MS Office (work, excel, teams)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in a similar role


  • Experience of charity finance and administration
  • Willingness to learn and undertake training where appropriate.
  • A relevant financial qualification


Job Type: Part-time

Contract length: Permanent

Salary: Up to £25k pro rata depending on relevant experience and knowledge

Work Hours: Up to 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Work Location: Peterborough, PE2 7UH with hybrid working option up to 50% of work hours.
