A key factor that needs to be taken into consideration when looking to increase UK recycling rates is people’s behaviour, this can have the greatest impact on levels of material collected for recycling in the UK and is an area of work that RECOUP has had a lot of experience in over the past 26 years. There is no question that we need to more effectively engage the public with correct recycling messages and improve levels of participation. See below for a number of projects we have delivered and worked on with our members to drive behaviour change and increase the collection of plastics for recycling.

Danone Nations Cup

RECOUP worked with Danone to inspire school children to recycle more plastic bottles through the Danone Nations Cup Football tournaments in 2016 and 2017.

Exeter University

RECOUP attended Exeter University to carry out a variety of engaging and educational activities with both staff and students, along with campus visitors.

Bournemouth - Pledge 4 Plastics

This summer campaign used a beach engagement team to directly communicate with the public with a call to action to recycle in Bournemouth.

Nestlé Waters - R-Generation

The R-Generation plastics recycling educational programme was developed for schools in its ‘Recycle Cycle’ recycling scheme in Buxton to educate about plastic and plastic recycling.
